106 — Mount Vernon’s Klayten Perreault has led this field from the beginning of the season.
A prolific PINNER, the Mustang senior has surpassed the pinning marks for a single season and a career. Freshmen Easton Enyeart (Ballard) and Urijah Courter (Nevada) along with Fairfield’s Cael Mc Cabe, appear to be the challengers. Easy choice for me—-Perreault!

113 — HWP has Webster City’s Linden Phetxoumphone ranked #1 for good reason.
Phetxoumphone is technically really good. Union’s Brayden Bohnsack, returns as the defending champ at 106 from a season ago. He will find it much more difficult this season, although his path to the final appears rather reasonable. Phetxoumphone has several wins against conference rival Jayson Stevens of Hampton-Dumont/CAL this season, and both figure be on a collision course in the semis. Phetxoumphone that’s the pick for the title at 113.

120 — Nevada’s Kaden Weber holds down the  No. 1 seed/ranking.
This weight class truly appears up for grabs. Dangerous freshman Gage Spurgeon (Eddyville-Blakesburg/Fremont) has proven this spectacle is not too big for his liking. Glenwood veteran Vinny Mayberry and Cresco’s Mitchell Schmauss are also seeking the top prize. Barring he remains injury free, and can dictate the pace, Weber should prevail in this balanced class.

126 — Union’s two-time defending champ Jace Hedeman is the overwhelming favorite.
Really and truly, the future UNI (Northern Iowa) Panther should bulldoze himself to his third title. Enough said.

132 — Roland Story senior Kade Blume, already with two titles to his credit is a No. 6 seed
What the hell is the problem with the seeding dysfunction? Embarrassing! Blume comes in with an undefeated record (36-0). Other talented wrestlers include Glenwood’s Matt Beem, Washington’s Aaron Boone, and Kaiden Dietzenbach (Burlington Notre Dame). Blume will again defeat Dietzenbach (9-2 earlier this year at Cliff Keen in Independence) to win his third title and cap off a great career.

138 — Blake Fox (Osage) is seeking his second title. Not flashy—just wins with grit and toughness.
No one has really challenged the Green Devil sophomore. Probably will face either Jase Jaspers (Mount Vernon) or Kaden Kremer (Independence) in the finale. However, don’t snooze on capable Solon junior Jordan Schmidt. This one though is an easy one for me—Blake Fox=Champion!

144 — Osage’s Anders Kittleson is the easy choice here. Why you might ask?
I could tell you because he’s going to be an Air Force Falcon — but that doesn’t win matches. He is perhaps one of the most intelligent wrestlers I’ve witnessed (mat awareness, mat savviness, knowledge, etc.). Kittleson will BONUS himself through the tournament — GUARANATEED!

150 — Should be a thriller in the finale, but I’m sold on Union’s Caleb Olson.
Another seeding miscue in my opinion. Nevertheless, it’s a two horse race between Lucas Kral (Garner-Hayfield/Ventura) and Olson. I’ve maintained that Olson is the guy at this weight, and commend Kral for dropping a weight after starting the season at 157. Should be a thriller in the finale. Tate Slagle (Algona) might also have his word as well.

157 –Tucker Stangel of Osage is the defending champion and will be 2024 champion as well.
Stangel vs Bo Koedam (Sergeant Bluff-Luton) or Sir Brandon Watts (Sioux City Heelan). I’m going to side with the guy (Stangel) who’s as calm as the other side of the pillow.

165 — Lets cut to the chase. Dubuque Wahlert’s Colin Young will overwhelm this class.
This is a weight I can’t wait to see. But let me be quite clear. Yet another seeding debacle! Please enlighten me on the process? Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Xavyion Ellington (33-3,  No. 2 seed) defeats Max Gast (11-1,  No. 1 seed ) at the State duals, but yet is seeded behind the senior from Osage. But I like Benton’s Brenden Heying to make it to the finals. Talented freshman Broedy Hendricks from Humboldt will not take a back seat on the top of the bracket. Wahlert’s Young over Benton’s Heying in a rematch of a district final at Manchester.

175 — Anamosa’s Austin Scranton will prevail as your state champion.
Scranton and West Delaware’s Brent Yonkovic on the top side for one semi, and Roland Story’s Hesston Johnson and Daniel Gorskikh of Knoxville in the other semi. Austin Scranton will prevail as your State Champ.

190 — Senior Brody Sampson of Ballard will deliver the Bombers fan base another individual title.
Sampson vs Jarrett Roos (Sheldon/South O’Brien). Sampson will benefit from wrestling a MUCH MORE difficult schedule, and that will be the difference in the outcome here.

215 — New Hampton/Turkey Valley’s Braden McShane brings the historic Chickasaw’s another individual champ.
This class provides formidable depth, and although Mc Shane is the frontrunner. Second-seeded Gavin Bridgewater (South Tama), Mason Koehler (Glenwood), and Ballard’s Henry Christensen will challenge for the top prize. This should be a great final’s match.

285 — Albia’s Paul Ballard has been HWP’s  No. 1 285 pounder the entire season. He’s your winner.
However, Osage’s Mac Muller finished in front of Ballard at this weight last season. A plethora of talent will be evident here as well. Don’t ignore Russell Coil (Columbus/WMU), Carter Heilskov (Hampton-Dumont/CAL), and Hawkeye footbll recruit Trent Cakerice (AP/GC) to make some noise
